ABOUT THE EVENT

Clinical research engagement is essential to today’s research landscape because it enhances efficiency, builds trust, ensures relevance, and broadens the impact of findings. It occurs when patients, communities, and organizations partner with researchers to plan, design, and conduct studies so outcomes are meaningful and actionable. Despite its importance, the NIH lacks a unified framework for incorporating patient and community voices into clinical research. Building on prior NExTRAC efforts, NIH has recognized the need for a cohesive engagement strategy.

Goal: For people and communities to influence the agenda and direction of, as well as have meaningful input into research that is relevant and impactful for them.

Vision: A future where clinical research engagement is standard practice, promoting responsiveness to community needs, accountability, and transparency while helping turn discoveries into improved health.
